Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is an infection of a woman's pelvic organs, which includes the endometritis, salpingitis, tubo-ovarian abscess, and pelvic peritonitis etc. Pelvic inflammatory disease develops as the result of spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), which 2 common bacteria-gonorrhea and Chlamydia-caused PID.
